Is there a Green Party chapter in the Beaufort area – specifically Hilton Head Island?

Yes, we certainly do. Contact me off-list at slwest at gmail dot com.

I’m in South Carolina at a farm in Ware Shoals until the 10th of next month. I was curious to find out the status of the Green Party out here, maybe meet with someone and connect people I know here that might be interested in getting involved with you. I also put an article together about how those in the Occupy movement that want to get involved in electoral politics can do so as a means of “Occupying the Winter.”

Hi Jack,
I will reach out to you through your website. I’ll be travelling that way over the holiday, so we may be able to have a conversation.
Thanks for the link. The need for improved online-organizing is certainly long overdue.
And I agree with your analysis of finding some political outlet for organizing in the winter months. This is the kind of work that can be effectively non-partisan in the interest of allowing the movement to grow, and to also leave space for less traditional organizing.

I would like to know who all of the green party candidates are for the upcoming elections. Are there any running for President? I will no longer be voting for any Republican or Democrat candidates and am looking for an acceptable alternative.
Hi Jeanine,
There are two people actively seeking the Green Party nomination for President in 2012: Dr. Jill Stein of Massachusetts (http://jillstein.org) and Kent Mesplay of California (http://mesplay.org). Jill Stein’s campaign is up and running and she’s traveling the country. We hope to bring her to SC for some events in the Spring.
Locally, we are recruiting candidates for state and local offices. We have to make these efforts count for a lot, so we’re going to have to limit who and where we run. Depending on where you are in the state, you could get active in a local campaign, and you could certainly help out with the campaign for president.
Jill Stein is doing a webcast on January 25 after the State of the Union address. Check it out here: http://www.jillstein.org/peoples_state_of_the_union. I’ll be posting that notice to the main web page soon, so that other people can see it.
If you’re on Facebook, please ‘like’ us there: https://www.facebook.com/SouthCarolinaGreenParty. You can also drop us a line at the main party email: scgreenpartyinfo earthlink net or contact me directly at slwest gmail com.
